Formed in 1997 by original founding members Eric Schlosser and Frank Redder – Lock 17 has been playing shows across Ohio since. With the addition of Vocalist Robbie Hayes and Bassist Asa Shaddix the band is ready to bring their signature rock feel to any location or occasion. Read on to find out more about each member of the band below.
Born and raised in Cambridge Ohio – Robbie had plenty of vocal practice at a young age growing up singing in church and choir. His musical idols include Tina Turner and Geoff Tate of Queensryche.
Frank got into music early in life playing Viola in the third grade. He then moved on to guitar at 14 when he received a JC Penny catalog flying V for christmas. His musical influences include early 80’s pop, Queen, Ozzy, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin and Hall & Oats. He played in two bands prior to Lock 17: Thin Ice and Passion.
After beating on his dad’s paint cans, two sets of Muppet drums and shoe boxes taped to TV trays Eric finally got his first real drum set at age 9 – making his debut at the fifth grade talent show. After graduating high school in 1991 he played his first professional gig at age 17 that summer along with 15 year old bass player Dirk Keylor. After that band dissolved he went on to form Lock 17 with Dirk Keylor and guitarist Frank Redder in 1997.
Asa started playing music at 10 years old in Southern California where he grew up watching his father play in a cover band (The Tickets) in Orange County. His previous musical projects were Nothing Less (where he played on the Vans Warped Tour), We are The Movies and Lull. His musical influences include Nick Lowe, Elvis Costello, XTC, The Bangles, Sublime, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Faith No More and Mr. Bungle. He’s also said to be a massive fan of the band Creed.
